At Bend Academy we try to do what we can to give back to the community and make dance accessible to all. Scholarships are available for those in financial need who cannot otherwise afford dance lessons. Please contact us if you are in need of a full or partial scholarship to cover dance costs.

Our scholarship fund is limited. We also recommend looking into Canadian Tire JumpStart, as they are an agency that provide funding to youth in sport.

SECOND DANCES: Second-hand Dancewear Corner

If you’re looking for second-hand dance items or have dancewear to donate please reach out! All donated dancewear is placed for sale at the studio and funds raised from sales go directly into a scholarship fund to help cover dance costs for students in need.

It all started a few weeks after opening the studio when a past dance mom reached out and asked if I would accept dancewear for the studio that she was planning on donating. Then another complete stranger reached out later that week after seeing an article in the paper about Bend Academy offering the same! I think the universe wanted me to take the items and do something good with them.

Check out our supply when you’re next at the studio! lf you’re looking for a specific item send me an email ( and I’m happy to check the stock for you before you come and visit. We currently have an assortment of leotards, black and beige jazz shoes, ballet slippers, and tights (many new in the packaging).

If you would like to donate items please reach out and I’m happy to pick things up or arrange for drop off times at the studio. Know that any donations you make will help students in need and reduce waste by extending the life of your dancewear.

Help give items a second dance!

Throughout November and December Bend Academy will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items to donate to Winnipeg Harvest. Please place items in the wrapped bin in the lobby. Thank you for your donations!

If you were at the Bend Academy grand opening celebration you likely met my friend, Aleethia. She is a cat lover like me and is organizing Cats on Mats, a fundraiser for Craig Street Cats that combines two of the very best things – cats and yoga!

Come participate in a post holiday stretch for a good cause that offers both restorative exercise and cat cuddles from current adoptable Craig Street Cats! The event is being hosted at Bend Academy. Two forty-five minute yoga classes will be led by certified yoga instructor Richelle Ready on Tuesday, December 27th from 2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

To reserve your spot, or for more information, please email Here is a link to the Facebook event:

We are kindly asking for a minimum $20 donation per person per class. Any and all cat and office supply donations for the shelter will also be collected during the event and are greatly appreciated. Everyone in attendance will have the chance to win some awesome door prizes including local and cat themed gifts.

Craig Street Cats does wonderful work for the felines of Winnipeg that don’t have homes for the holidays. Please join us for this paw-some event!
